Trending: A/W 2023 hair updates
A new season is the perfect excuse to update your look and while a runway-inspired coat or boots might satisfy your retail urges, we personally think there’s nothing more impactful than a fresh cut or colour (or even both!).
From subtle tweaks (think face-framing layers or a few inches off) to bold transformations, our expert team are on hand to help you find a look to suit you. Our thorough consultations consider not just your hair type and length, but your personal style, influences and lifestyle. Here are three suggestions on how you could update your hair this season:
The new bob
Whether you favour a classic French bob (tousled, jaw length), an Italian version (more volume, more ‘done’) or a box bob (light and choppy), there’s no denying that this cut is back in the spotlight. Look toTaylor Hill, Kaia Gerber and Taylor Lashae for inspiration – the perfect length is somewhere beneath your jaw but above your shoulders and our expert team will be able to advise the best options for you, based on your hairline, face shape and hair texture.
The beauty of a bob is that it’s super versatile – try it with a blunt fringe or tapered bangs, wear it sleek or add in volume, then flip to one side for a 90s supermodel vibe. We’re always happy to suggest styling products that suit your hair type and we can also talk you through styling options to ensure you know how best to manage your hair at home.
Upgrade your colour
There are so many colour ideas right now that you’ll be forgiven for struggling to choose a favourite – we know we can’t!
For us, luxe blonde (also coined as ‘nepo blonde’) never goes out of style but that creamy, clean expensive looking shade is definitely having a moment. Some of the best examples are subtly multi-tonal, so rather than a universal colour and toner, the look can be achieved with a full head of very finely woven highlights.
We’re hearing lots of requests for ‘cowboy copper’ too.Inspired by glossy, luxurious tones of leather (hence ‘cowboy’) this warm hue takes classic copper and infuses it with deeper brunette hues, resulting in a rich result (think freshly-picked conkers). References include Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajowski.
If you’re after something more sultry, why not opt for a multi-tonal brunette shade? Fine baby lights are added to create the effect of natural movement and depth in the hair, resulting in an expensive-looking colour that lifts the complexion. Think Jane Birkin and Amal Clooney and you get the idea.
Layer up
If a one-length bob isn’t for you, there are plenty of layered alternatives to choose from right now. We’ve been doing a lot of 90s Supermodel style cuts – soft face-framing layers finished with plenty of volume and bounce. It’s a glamorous look that works on hair that falls to the shoulders or longer and can be tailored to contour the face or highlight your favourite features, particularly when accompanied with balayage or a money piece.
For something a little edgier, mullets, wolf cuts and pixies are all still popular and we’re also seeing lots of request for the ‘Bixie’ which combines the best bits of a bob and a pixie cut – think longer layers that offer more versatility when styling. Again, our expert team is on hand to help discover the best layered look to suit you.
